Costa Blanca Travel and Transport Advice

The Costa Blanca is a beautiful and scenic area which gets millions of tourists every year on various Costa Blanca flights. Here we will explore all the facts you need to know about travelling to this region.

Obviously, when travelling from other European countries it is best to obtain low cost Spain flights but they may not always be the best choice depending on what dates you have selected. In fact, many people choose to pick their holiday times based on when they can obtain the lowest cost flights to the Costa Blanca.

Airport

Map of Costa Brava AirportsThe majority of people flying to the region of Costa Blanca fly to Alicante airport because this is the main airport to service the area. In 2010, the airport had almost 10 million passengers. In March 2011, a new terminal opened to accommodate additional flights to this airport. This is because the Costa Blanca region is becoming much more popular as an inexpensive European holiday destination.

Car Hire

The majority of the people who fly into the Costa Blanca region choose to get their hire car from the airport; however, because the region is so popular there are plenty of companies scattered all over the region. If you are hiring a car at the airport then the car hire desks are in the arrivals' hall, and you will find eight international companies there in total.

It is recommended that if you want to explore the region you hire a car. This is because it is by far the most convenient way to travel around. Now, because of the amount of different car hire companies prices are not as expensive as you may have thought either.

Public Transport

If you do not want to hire a car, public transport routes are available. There are busses, trains and of course the airport.

Public transport in the Costa Blanca region is very efficient; however, finding routes is another question. Bigger towns in the region have plenty of public transport links; but, small towns may only see one or two busses a day with no transport on a Sunday. Nevertheless, the majority of bus services have been re-vamped, which means that they are air conditioned, unlike just a few years ago.

If you want to travel up or down the Costa Blanca coastline then you can always do this by train. One thing you should note is that because trains are not as popular in Spain you need to put your hand out in order to tell the driver you want it to stop.
